We have a NEW PASTOR!

Pastor Steve Kitchen
First Sermon: Sunday, September 11, 2016

A Message from Pastor Steve:

Cindy, the kids and I are all looking forward to begin the new part of our journey with all of you. At this point, we would just be happy to be done with packing! Thank you again for all your prayers.

As you know, I will begin preaching on September 11 and my plan is to begin a series on the letter of 1 Peter. Peter sums up his intentions for the letter nicely with the verse above, he is writing to remind them what the true grace of God looked like and to urge them to, "stand firm in it." Below I have a tentative line-up of the series (It is always subject to revision as I continue to study).

Stand Firm in the True Grace of God!

  1. (1 Peter 1:1-2) The True Grace of God: Trust, Obedience, and Patience
  2. (1 Peter 1:3-12) Future Grace: Celebrate the Rich Joy of Our Inheritance (Part 1)
  3. (1 Peter 1:3-12) Future Grace: Celebrate the Rich Joy of Our Inheritance (Part 2)
  4. (1 Peter 1:13-2:3) Wouldn't It Be Great If...(The Joyful Grace of Holiness)
  5. (1 Peter 1:22-2:3) Grace Experienced: Have You Tasted that the Lord is Good?
  6. (1 Peter 2:4-10) Grace vs. Self-Righteousness: Where Heaven and Earth Collide
  7. (1 Peter 2:4-10) Grace Restores: We are a Holy Priesthood
  8. (1 Peter 2:4-10) Grace Restores: We are a Royal Priesthood
  9. (1 Peter 2:11-25) Grace in Relationships: Honor, Love, Fear & Submission
  10. (1 Peter 3:1-12) Grace in Relationships: Honor, Love & Self-Sacrifice
  11. (1 Peter 3:13-17) Grace Turns Life Upside Down
  12. (1 Peter 3:18-22) The Power & Picture of Grace (Baptism)
  13. (1 Peter 4:1-11) The Cross Shaped Life
  14. (1 Peter 4:12-19) The Grace of God's Fire
  15. (1 Peter 5:1-14) Do We Stand in the True Grace of God?
Looking over these sermon titles will give you a general overview of the letter. I encourage you all to take some time this week to read the whole letter through. It is just 5 chapters and will not take that long.

Also, keep those prayers coming, both for our move, but also, more importantly, for the Word of God to be clearly preached.
